Young Republican Federation of Virginia
Welcome
Welcome to the Young Republican Federation of Virginia Website!
99 YRs from 8 different states contacted 13,000 voters over 2 weekends just during our "Do IT in Virginia" 2007 GOTV effort! the last 2 weekends of this past election cycle. Although we only won 2 of the 9 races we worked on we are sure we made an impact on all the races being the only force on the ground in some cases! Congratulations to State Senator Ken Cuccinelli and State Senator Elect Jill Holtzman Vogel!
As young professionals and grassroots activists from around the Commonwealth we understood the importance of this election and its effect on future elections. Young Republicans across the Commonwealth not only volunteered for our "Do IT in Virginia" GOTV program but have been involved throughout the cycle of many of the campaigns. Please read through the YR club update section to see how each club made a difference in their areas!
We would like to thank our sponsors and everyone that supported the YRFV GOTV efforts! GOPAC was a co-sponsor to our event and we are very grateful for their generosity! Some additional sponsors were: Congressman Tom Davis, State Senator Jay O'Brien, Delegate John Cosgrove, Attorney General Bob McDonnell, Congressman Lynn Westmoreland, Tommy Norment, Charlie Keller
We would also like to thank those that came by our suite for our 2nd Annual Champagne and Chocolates at the Advance. It was a great success! Just as we did at our 1st Annual Champagne and Chocolates we packed the room! We even had a board with pictures from our fall campaigning efforts.
The YRFV determined it's goals for 2008 at our winter board meeting on December 2nd. Our main goal is to aggressively build the YR organization as a result continuing to build our party bringing new energy and ideas to the table. Our strategy not only includes capitalizing on the volunteers from each of the Presidential and Senate campaigns but partnering with the CRs to establish as smooth transition for those that graduate from College and become young professionals to stay involved. Some of our other goals include continuing to be a grassroots force by being involved in the Presidential and Senate campaigns after the Primary and VA Convention and a canned food drive in the early Spring to donate to food banks around the Commonwealth. Please save the date for our 2008 YRFV Convention in Richmond, Virginia on April 4 - 5.
In addition to our grassroots activities we have many exciting opportunities for young professionals to be involved around the Commonwealth. Being a YR provides opportunities to network, socialize with other young professionals as well meet and be apart of exciting opportunities to meet GOP leaders. Young professionals that identify themselves as Republicans are coming out of the woodwork as we have added 2 new clubs in the last 4 months (Prince William Area Young Republicans and Chesapeake Young Republicans) and we have more coming on board as chartered clubs within the year. 2008 is going to be another exciting year not to be missed! Please be sure to join your local Young Republican club or if you are willing to start one in area that we do not have one please contact me at yrfvchair@yahoo.com.
Yours in Republican Victory,
Lori-Ann Miller - YRFV Chairwoman
